Car Insurance Porsche (Car Insurance). should i get a transmission flush?should i get a transmission flush? i have a 2002 mercedes c230 kompressor coupe 110k miles on it i have no idea if its ever been flushed, nothing wrong just doing some preventive maintenance. and how do i know if it needs to be flushed? Don't do it unless the original owner's manual maintenance schedule says it should be done around 110K miles, or you suspect the previous owner didn't follow the maintenance schedule. yes u have go with ur car to ur service center and there it can flushed Since you have a lot of mileage on the transmission, I suspect that it is about to fail. I suggest doing nothing to it until it fails, then rebuild or replace it (if the car is still worth it). hi... I never had a tranny flushed in all the life of my vehicles.... I think flushing is only done if something horrible thing happened inside the unit.. (a part broke and metal shavings flowing around inside) or if tranny is contaminated with foreign materials or fluids, like WATER . Not even a good flushing can fix a rusted valve ... so. in my experience a good fluid and filter change will do your tranny good. for life. enjoy. Suggest with 110k miles on car it's due for major service, tune up, all fluids changed including trans. etc. Recommend Dealer to do, may cost a little more but will be done right. They may have package deal, but they can give you an estimate first if you've had some services done already, on remaining items. 100k is important preventive maintenance. A "flush" is nothing more than changing the fluid. People tend to think that "flushing" means there's pressure being added to the system. There's not. It's simply a process where a machine intercepts the fluid that your pump is circulating and replaces it. just change the fluid and filter. I find that is better than the so called "flush". like some of the others said a flush is just running so tranny fluid through it. If you change the fluid and the filter most of the debris is caught in the filter as you drive so changing the filter is a better bet than flushing it. Auto parts : Grease Gun Acura 1995 . Now my stereo (aftermarket) will light up, but not turn on (whether the car is on or off) and the stereo speakers make a light hissing/static sound when the car is off (keys out of ignition) and same thing when on. Not sure how they managed to do that when they only replaced a front driver window motor. Didn't know that was connected to the stereo, but here we are. Any suggestions on what to check? From the research I've been doing on the Legends Race car, I found out that u have to brake using ur left foot, and once I found that out, I automatically became confused as to where the clutch may be positioned in the floor..So I was wondering, wouldn't it be hard to brake and downshift at the same time (like ur suppose to when approaching a turn at high speeds anywayz) going into a turn if the car has "left foot" brake action and if the clutch just happens to be on the left side? But if u can still use ur right foot to brake without it being supa awkward, (I'm talkin like trying to brake with ur right foot in a go-kart type of awkward) then I guess that would anwser my question. car insurance. Porsche . Step-by-Step on How to Rebuild a 4 Cycle Engine CarburetorA sputtering, dying engine on a lawn mower or motorcycle may owe its ailments to a dirty and clogged carburetor. The best way to remedy poor carburetor performance is to rebuild it. Rebuilding the carburetor in a 4 cycle engine--one that does not require a fuel/oil mix--involves replacing the internal gaskets and needle valve that make up the internals of the carburetor. According to the authors of SecondChanceGarage.com, this process is fairly simple and can be performed in an easy step by step procedure. Remove the Carburetor from the Engine The first step in rebuilding the carburetor is to remove it from the engine to which it is mounted. Use a socket wrench to remove the mounting bolts from the carburetor studs on either side of the carburetor. Unhook the fuel lines leading into the carburetor itself and then disconnect the float bowl if your carburetor is equipped with one. Pour the gasoline out of the float bowl and then disconnect the air cleaner or the air filter hose from the carburetor intake. Pull on either side of the carburetor itself and lift it away from the engine. Place the carburetor on a clean and open working surface. Carburetor Kit and Cleaning Obtain a carburetor rebuild kit applicable to the model of 4-cycle carburetor you are rebuilding. Most home appliance or small engine repair shops will have these readily available, or will at least be able to help you contact the manufacturer. Before you begin disassembling the carburetor, clean the outside of the unit thoroughly, as waiting until afterward could push dirt inside. Use a set of box end wrenches to begin disassembling the carburetor. Remove the housings that cover the carburetor itself. Pull off the old gaskets from each area where metal surfaces touch. Scrape the surfaces clean with a paint scraper or a knife. Spray carburetor cleaner throughout the interior of the bowls and remove any oxidation that you find. Use a small set of needle nose pliers to remove the needle valve located in the center of the carburetor housing. New Gaskets and Reassembly Install new gaskets on each of the recently cleaned mating surfaces, making sure they are even and seated well. Slide a new needle valve into the carburetor housing and press the valve into its mount with the needle nose pliers. Reassemble the carburetor housing and reinstall the float bowl. Slide the carburetor back onto the mounting studs on the engine and install the nuts. Remount the fuel lines and the air cleaner/air filter hose. ResourcesM-and-D.com: Carburetor Repair
Porsche . How to Rebuild a Holley CarburetorHolley carburetors are known for their solid performance and strong power-enhancing capabilities. You can find them in vehicles ranging from the mild-mannered four-cylinder family car to the 1,000-horsepower drag racer. Carburetors take a beating, but with regular maintenance, they can continue functioning for many years. With a rebuilding kit and a few tools, you can quickly return a Holley carburetor to full working order. Holley carburetor kits are available from many auto parts dealers. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Holley carburetor rebuilding kit Screwdrivers Socket wrench set Carburetor cleaner Pliers Step by Step : 1 Order the proper carburetor rebuilding kit from your local Holley dealer by providing the model number from the side of the unit installed in your vehicle. Get under the hood and disconnect the gas hoses and air-box nozzle from the carburetor with the pliers. Remove the mounting bolts holding the carburetor body to the intake manifold. 2 Slide the Holley carburetor and the manifold gasket off the engine, and unhook the retainer wire on the bottom of the carburetor float bowl. Unscrew the jet screw located in the middle of the right-hand portion of the carburetor and slide the needle out. 3 Spray carburetor cleaner throughout the unit to loosen up any "gunk" and then replace the gaskets. Replace the needle with the one from the Holley carburetor rebuilding kit and replace the jet screw. 4 Install the manifold gasket on the lip of the mount on the motor and slide the carburetor into place. Tighten the mounting bolts on the carburetor to the manufacturer's specifications. Slide the fuel hoses back into place on the carburetor nozzles. Make sure the hoses are tight. 5 Start up the vehicle and adjust the carburetor jet screw to increase or decrease the amount of fuel entering the combustion chamber. Keep adjusting until the vehicle idles smoothly. Tips & Warnings Be careful to not tear your gaskets as you are remounting the carburetor or float bowl. That could cause a leak and lead to costly repairs. *Try to coast along the shoulder until you're well away from any curves in the road behind you. Doing so pays off when you're ready to get back onto the road — because you can spot oncoming traffic before it's on your tail. If the car dies right on the highway and you can't get off the road, don't get out of the car! I know that sitting in a dead car with traffic piling up behind you is unnerving, but attempting to cross a high-speed freeway on foot is suicide. Most heavily traveled highways are also heavily patrolled, and a nice highway patrol officer will be along before you know it. Once the officer is on the scene, it's a simple matter of stopping traffic long enough to push your vehicle to the right-hand shoulder. When you reach the side of the road, take these additional safety precautions: Roll down the window on the driver's side, hang out a white cloth or piece of paper, and roll the window back up to secure it in place. The cloth or paper also alerts drivers to proceed around you. If you can easily reach the passenger-side window without getting out of the car, do the same on that side. Try not to obstruct your ability to see out the windows. If you know that you're going to need roadside assistance, use your cell phone to call your auto club or the highway patrol. If you have no cell phone — and you can see an emergency call box nearby — use the call box to call for help. If no call box is handy, you're probably better off hanging a white cloth or piece of paper out the window and waiting for the highway patrol to spot you. In these days of daytime carjackings, walking along the highway alone can be dangerous. To avoid being hit by a passing vehicle, don't work on your car from the left (driver's) side, unless you can do so while standing well away from the nearest traffic lane. If you can, move the car farther off the road, and try to reach into the trouble area from the front or right side, keeping away from traffic. That goes for changing left-side tires, too. .Chapter 21: What to Do If Your Car Drops Dead or Won't Start A 2 C If it's daylight, put on your emergency blinkers or your left-turn signal to alert oncoming traffic to the fact that your car isn't moving. This is not a good idea at night because motorists coming up behind you may think that your vehicle is still rolling along the highway and run right into the rear end of your car. (Drunk drivers are especially prone to this sometimes fatal error.) If it's nighttime, place warning lights or reflective markers about 6 feet behind the vehicle to alert traffic. If you have neither of these, either turn on the interior lights manually or leave the right-hand car door open so that the interior lights stay on. 947

Troubleshooting the Problem After you're safely off the road and ready to deal with the situation, try to view what happened in dietary terms: Your vehicle lives on a mixture of air, fuel, and fire — if it won't go, it's not getting one of the following ingredients. Air Air is simple — and probably not the problem. Your vehicle gets its air through the air cleaner. Unless the air filter inside the air cleaner is totally clogged, your engine should be getting enough air to keep it going. Your choke or throttle may be stuck in the closed position, which could keep your car from breathing properly. To find out whether this is the problem, do the following.
